The Rose’s Edge Gown in Miniature by MaryGwyneth Fine Wearable Art was a 2012 NICHE Awards Finalist in the Surface Design category. The miniature gown is a prototype, one third scale model of a full size gown design by the artist. MaryGwyneth sculpted and cast the true-to-scale mannequin, designed the gown and pattern, machine embroidered the hemlines on silk crepe de chine, painted the silk with acid dyes, steam set the silk, and constructed the fully silk-lined gown with fine couture sewing techniques, including a boned corset interlining and petticoat. The gown is embellished with handmade roses, crystals, and hand cut amethysts.
