The beautiful Rose’s Edge Gown in Miniature by Mary G. Holland of MaryGwyneth LLC was named a finalist in the coveted 2012 NICHE Awards. Nearly 2000 artists competed in the “Academy Awards equivalent” of fine American crafts.
The Rose’s Edge Gown captures the aura of an old, well-tended rose garden, overflowing with a mass of brilliant, soft petals, in mixed hues and tints of yellow, pink, and red. The gown’s layers suggest bed after bed of colorful roses, as far as the eye can see. Hunter green, mossy, and grassy green leaves wave in the breeze, occasionally revealing pointed thorns.
The Rose’s Edge Gown is the foundation piece for the Rose’s Edge Collection. This romantic evening or colored, all-silk bridal gown is designed for a passionate and expressive woman.
Cut from hand dyed silk crepe de chine, the layered design and hand dyed colors whisper impressions of overlapping, masses of color while gazing out over a lush rose garden.
The silk-embroidered, jagged hems recall a rose’s leaves, punctuated by occasional thorns, expressed in dark amethyst marquis and iridescent faceted glass beads.
The leafy overlays brush gently over handmade silk roses, hidden beneath the layers.
Interlined in silk organza, with a fully constructed silk corset and petticoat, the gown is lined in glistening and sumptuous silk charmeuse.
Prefer to collect miniatures? If you love the gown but would prefer collecting small examples of fine design and craftsmanship for display, the Rose’s Edge Gown is the first in a series of miniature couture pieces that MaryGwyneth will release in limited editions during the next few years. The one third scale miniature can be reconstructed for display on the artist’s sculpted dress form and stand, or refit for popular haute fashion dolls such as “Antoinette”, “Sybarite”, or “Gene” dolls.
The miniature one third scale model, or the gown resized for Tonner Tyler, Antoinette, Sybarite, or American Model dolls, is available by custom order only. The full size gown, and a white or pale pastel bridal gown in same style, can also be made to order. Please inquire.
