named a finalist in the prestigious 2012 NICHE Awards

in the Fiber, Decorative Category

MaryGwyneth’s “Rose’s Edge Gown in Miniature” was named a finalist in the national  2012 NICHE Awards.  Competition was stiff this year, with nearly 2000 professional and student entrants, each entering up to three of their finest recent works.  Winners will be announced on February 18, 2012 at a special awards ceremony during the Buyer’s Market of American Craft in Baltimore.

The Rose’s Edge Gown in Miniature by MaryGwyneth is an all-silk, one third scale, 19 ½” tall, detailed model of the couture foundation piece in the Rose’s Edge Collection.  The tiny gown with its designer-sculpted mannequin was entered in the prestigious American craft competition as a collectible miniature in the Fiber, Decorative category.

The passionate colors of the hand dyed silk enhance the design lines of the all original gown.  As a design prototype, this one-of-a-kind model is perfect for those who love the gown, but prefer collecting dolls and very unique, fine fashion miniatures. Friday, July 1, 2011: Mare’s Wares Arts Fest

Location: 3938 State Highway 37, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.

Admission: Free to the public, noon – 8pm

This one day outdoor craft fair, only four years old so far, is rapidly becoming one of the finest craft shows in northern New York in spite of its small size.  By invitation only, the festival features the region’s best artisans, musicians, artisan food and wine makers, authors, along with several active arts-supporting guilds and non profits.  Musicians, food, and craft demonstrations will make it a great get-away and fun-filled start to the holiday weekend.  Many artisans sold out their goods last year.  It’s very well attended by Americans and Canadians alike, not far from the Ogdensburg bridge to Canada.  Free to the public, plan to get there early, and expect to walk, as parking is limited.  It’s on Rte. 37 south of Ogdensburg, part way to Morristown, on the left, as you travel south.

The 29th annual show and sale will feature over 100 quality arts and crafts vendors from throughout the Northeast with woodworking, glassworks, handmade soaps, fibre arts, paintings, collectibles, and much more. The event will be held at Cerow Recreational Park. Daily adult admission to the Arts and Craft show is $5. There will be free admittance to the event for children under the age of 16 years old.

Admission: Free to the public, 10-4 Saturday, 10-4 Sunday

This is a free, self-directed tour.  Artists throughout northern New York open their studios to the public for specified days, to show and sell their work.  MaryGwyneth will be open for both days.  Sponsored by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.  Check with the Arts Council for a brochure and map of artists’ studios on the tour, you choose which studios you want to visit.

MaryGwyneth will display her latest and most popular works, and have samples available for sale.
